I have learned about SO MUCH music (genres, styles, locales, influences, etc.) because of Hip Hop. The world of music opened up to me because I spent time reading liner notes, production credits, samples, shout outs, reviews and interviews. Hip Hop is like that gateway drug - you start there and branch out to harder stuff (if you really get into it). Dope fiends/crate diggers know what I'm talking about.
